New Patient Appointments

For your convenience, you may print our new patient documents, fill them out and bring them in with you at your first visit.
Your first visit to our practice will include necessary digital x-rays, evaluation for presence of gum disease, cancer screening and a full exam for the detection of decay. If you do not have gum disease, we will do a prophylaxis (cleaning) and fluoride treatment. All of this will be followed by a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options.

There may be times when treatment cannot occur due to medical history or extensive treatment plan. If this is so, a second appointment will be required for further evaluation and treatment. Please provide the following information at the time of your visit:

  • Any x-rays
  • A list of current prescriptions
  • Dental insurance information

Please contact our office if you any questions regarding your first appointment.

Our Office Policy Regarding Dental Insurance

We accept and are PPO providers for most dental insurance companies. Contact our office to find out if we are a participating provider on your insurance company plan or you may contact your insurance company to get approval. Even if we are not a participating provider on your plan, most PPO plans offer out-of-network benefits. We do not accept DMO insurance or public aid at this time.

As a courtesy to our patients, we will file your insurance claims for each visit. The fees we charge for services are based on the procedure that is to be done. The fees are the same regardless of whether or not insurance is involved. Your insurance may base its allowance on a fixed fee schedule which may or may not coincide with our usual fees. You should be aware that different insurance companies and dental plans vary greatly in the types of available coverage. If you have any questions regarding your dental coverage, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly.

We are not responsible for how your insurance company handles its claims. We can only assist you in estimating your portion of the cost of treatment. We, at no time, guarantee what your insurance will or will not do with each claim. We will be glad to file pre-determination of benefits with your dental insurance carrier before your treatment is rendered.

What You Need To Know About Dental Insurance

No dental insurance pays 100% of all procedures. Dental insurance is meant to be an aid in receiving dental care. Many patients think that their insurance pays 90% to 100% of all dental fees. This is not true. Most plans only pay between 50% to 80% of the average total fee. This is all determined on the contract between your employer and your insurance company.

Your dental insurance benefits are not determined by your dentist. The doctor has to use the fees schedule that is provided by your insurance company. When estimating dental benefits, your yearly deductible will be included. The amount can range from $25.00 to $100.00. Again, this is decided during the contracting phase between your employer and your insurance company.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take my insurance?
If you have dental insurance, call our office to see if we are providers for your insurance. We are PPO providers for most insurance companies but you always want to check first. You may also want to contact your insurance company because you may not be able to pick the doctor you want to.

Is my treatment going to be painful?
We’ll do our very best to ensure that it’s not. Our doctors are very gentle and are careful to make sure that you’re completely numb before any work begins. If you’re nervous or tense about receiving dental care, we do offer oral sedation to help you to relax during your appointment.

How often should I brush and floss?
Brushing and flossing help control the plaque and bacteria that causes dental disease.

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day with an ADA approved soft bristle brush and toothpaste. Brush at a 45 degree angle to the gums, gently using a small, circular motion, ensuring that you always feel the bristles on the gums. Brush the outer, inner, and biting surfaces of each tooth. Use the tip of the brush head to clean the inside front teeth. Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.

  • Daily flossing is the best way to clean between the teeth and under the gum line. Flossing not only helps clean those spaces, it disrupts plaque colonies from building up, preventing damage to the gums, teeth, and bone. Take 12-16 inches of dental floss and wrap it around your middle fingers, leaving about 2 inches of floss between the hands. Using your thumbs and forefingers to guide the floss, gently insert the floss between teeth using a sawing motion. Curve the floss into a “C” shape around each tooth and under the gumline. Gently move the floss up and down, cleaning the side of each tooth. Floss holders are recommended if you have difficulty using conventional floss.

It is important to rinse your mount with water after brushing, and also after meals if you are unable to brush.  If you are using and over-the-counter product for rinsing, it’s good idea to consult with your dentist or dental hygienist on its appropriateness for you.

How can I tell if I have gingivitis or periodontitis (gum) disease?
Four out of five people have periodontal disease and don’t even know it. Unlike tooth decay, which often causes discomfort, it is possible to have periodontal disease without any pain or noticeable symptoms. Having regular dental check-ups and periodontal examinations are very important and will help detect if a periodontal disease problem exist.

There are several factors that may increase the risk of developing periodontal disease:

  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Smoking or chewing tobacco
  • Certain tooth or appliance conditions
  • Medications
  • Pregnancy
  • Systemic diseases
  • Genetics

Here are some signs and symptoms of periodontal disease:

  • Red and puffy gums
  • Bleeding gums
  • Persistent bad breath
  • New spacing between teeth
  • Loose teeth
  • Pus around the teeth and gums
  • Receding gums
  • Tenderness or discomfort

Can you straighten my teeth?
Many or our patients have achieved straighter teeth through the use of Invisalign invisible braces. Dr. Joseph Hadley is one of the top dentist in the Indianapolis area when it comes to the use of Invisalign. If you are interested in getting straighter teeth without the use of unattractive metal braces, please call our office for an evaluation appointment.

Do you have the ability to make crowns in a single visit?
In our office we use CEREC 3D CAD/CAM unit. This machine allows us to prepare the tooth, take a picture, make the crown and bond it to the tooth in about two hours.
